About Masonic Tartan

The Masonic Tartan is a unique plaid pattern that is connected to the Freemasons, a brotherhood that has a long-standing history in Scotland. This particular design was brought to life by Anne Carroll Gilmour from Park City, Utah, under the instruction of the Grand Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons of Utah. The intent was to create a tartan that could be worn by all Freemasons around the globe. Each color in the tartan has a special significance, representing different Masonic organizations and ranks within the brotherhood. Over time, this Masonic Tartan has gained popularity and is now recognized and worn by Freemasons all over the world. It stands as a prominent emblem of their global unity and fraternity.
